Rep. Maxine Waters on Release of Scott Video: “I’m With the Wife, I Don’t Care What the Law Says!”
September 23 15:19 2016 Print This Article

Congresswoman Maxine Waters reacted to the release of video showing the moments just before Keith Scott was shot to death by Charlotte police.

In the video, Scott’s wife, Rakeyia Scott, can be heard pleading with police not to shoot her husband.

“Don’t shoot him. Don’t shoot him,” she says. “He has no weapon. He has no weapon.”

Police yell again at Mr. Scott: “Drop the gun! Drop the f—ing gun!”

“He doesn’t have a gun,” she says. “He has a T.B.I. [traumatic brain injury]. He’s not going to do anything to you guys. He just took his medicine.”

After commanding Scott to drop the gun several more times, police opened fire, killing Mr. Scott.

After reviewing the video, Rep. Waters said, “I am so upset, watching this video and listening to the cries and pleas of a wife who says he has no weapon and had just taken his medicine.”

Waters also questioned why, since Mr. Scott wasn’t threatening anyone, police had to shoot him.

“Even if they had to sit there and wait it out until she talked him out of the car, why did they have to advance and kill him?” Waters asked.

Waters was then asked about the North Carolina law that prevents the release of dashcam or bodycam video.

“I don’t care what the law says,” Rep. Waters said. “You have a wife who videoed what took place, her husband has been murdered, and if you tell me that she should care about a law that is in place literally to protect police anyway, and that she should not have shown it, I’m with the wife. I don’t care what the law says!”

I hope my family at BREAKING BROWN can forgive me for being a little off topic, but a lot of info has come out concerning the JEWISH funded group 'BLACK LIVES MATTERS' and the news is not good

IF you're familiar with the cointell programs of the 60's,and 70's that the FBI conducted against the black civil rights movements than what happening today will be easily explained , but for those of us who were too young to know, please do some research to catch up .

THE article and video's below will tell us how this movement was infiltrated and taken over and what we can expect from them next, it will explain a lot that most of us didn't know, please share with everyone, it seems the killings have started!

This is very revealing and eye-opening, I hope others take time to watch it. I've been tryna tell ppl that BLM did NOT launch the protests in Ferguson against police killings of unarmed blk ppl, they actually co-opted the original movement and this video proves it. We have to be careful to vet these so-called 'movements' and the ppl who r leading them b4 we latch onto them.

Do we really want a representative in Congress such as Maxine Waters that was voted in by the people but does not care what the law says but she's there to uphold the laws and make new laws

Dan Miller
Dan Miller

So in all common sense officers are supposed to wait until they are fired upon before they fire. that's how most blacks think? Oh and blacks on the street don't have to comply to police officers orders they could do whatever they want and officers cannot shoot them if they point something at the officer or Rush the officer or try to grab his gun

Dan Miller

Maxine Waters you don't have to care what the law says and people don't have to care what Witnesses say because they're usually lying anyway

A major contributor to these vicious shooting has to do with the fact that almost all of AMERICA'S large police departments are being trained and equipped by the racist apartheid state of ISRAEL , there is no justification for a black mayor of a majority black city like ATLANTA to have police trained by racist JEWS.

ALSO keep in mind my people that the JEWS in america want civil unrest and or race war to further a agenda  of theirs, and they need our young people to do the fighting and dying, lets not play into these monsters hands and give them what they want.

OUR immediate goal should be the removal of all black elected officials who have any cooperation with JEWS and ISRAEL PERIOD!

I live in Charlotte and everyone in that complex black and white that saw what happened said a white cop with a red shirt and bald head shot him.

Laura Devarie

The gun was planted. The problem I have is I find it hard to believe he was sitting in his car waving a gun. The police were in the neighborhood to give a warrant to someone else how did this guy get involved i also have a problem with the cop he is supposed to have a camera on him and surprise he doesn't That alone the cop should be fined in some way like no pay

Carolyn Broadbelt
Carolyn Broadbelt

Those cops chose him because he was a Black man minding his business. That is racial profiling. They automatically saw him as a runaway slave. Law enforcement training is based on plantation slave paddy patrols whereby every Black person is a runaway slave, someone who should not be in public space. This is what racial profiling is based on. This mentality was passed from cop to cop to the sons of cops. They have never been properly trained. This is why they need a gun, a club, a taser, pepper spray, and a vicious dog. As slave catchers they are trained to see Black people as captives. The fact that they switched from being undercover to uniformed aggressors is just foul. The heroin epidemic is exploding because all the white cops are afraid to patrol open carry white areas. Yet they go into Black neighborhoods looking for weed and blunts.

Unfortunately these killings will not solve the problem of getting back the $8 trillion stolen from tax payers by the pentagon. They will provide some excitement, he had a gun, he pointed at the officer, he had a rap sheet, or whatever, to start some race war. However, the people need to find who really stole their money, not this man or the rioters. They need to stand up to the government and not terrorize impoverished citizens just for excitement. They are paying a high $17 trillion price, if you count the theft of the pentagon and the bailouts.

"I don't care what the law says." You tell 'em sister Maxine.  All of this shooting is way out of hand.  It looks like there's a shooting of a Black person every day or so!!  It's the modern day lynching with a pistol instead of a rope.  This has to stop!

Johnw11
Johnw11

@TinaSue  I agree the lynchings have to stop. But let's be realistic, the only thing that will stop the lynchings is the same thing that temporarily stopped them during the 1960s --- the federal government.

Congresswoman Waters has the power to call a congressional hearing on the matter. Otherwise, rhetoric will do no good. Congresswoman Waters has an illustrious history of fighting for what's right in the congress until recent years; often standing alone. Now is the time to call a congressional hearing!

Now is also the time for African Americans -- and all others--- to begin putting these incidents into their proper historical context  -- these are lynchings.

When lynchings occur and no one is punished, it is evidence that there has been a breakdown of law and order. Given this fact, the potential victims of lynchings must demand in protest that "law and order" be restored, I., e., unlawful lynchings must stop. Instead, given the fact that African Americans have incompetents posing as their leaders, they have allowed the supporters of lynching to deceptively take the "law and order" moral high ground.

It's time for a congressional hearing on restoring "law and order."

Johnw11
Johnw11

@Watchful Selective enforcement of the law IS a breakdown of the law.

I agree that many misleaders are more "sellouts" than personally incompetent (although some of them are both incompetent and recreant).

For example, to her credit, Congresswoman Waters, and a few others, attempted to bring focus to the inhumane economic suffering of Blacks circa 2010 / 2011. In response, they were attacked by the con man and agent (# CI-7) Al Sharpton for speaking out on behalf of their constituents, which they are ELECTED to do. This, the con man did despite the fact that no one has elected him to anything. He, alone with his handful of ignorant followers, called Congresswoman Waters illiberal names -- "Insane Maxine," etc. -- in their attacks against her for advocating that some of the funds being given to the already superrich (Wall Street) be appropriated to the millions of starving (or near starving), homeless (or near homeless), and unemployed Blacks. (Interestingly enough, just recently, some associates and I were wondering how some of those fools who followed Sharpton in attacking Ms. Waters for trying to help them are faring now. Since the economic plight of Blacks has gotten worse since then, it is statistically impossible that some of them would not have been affected by now).

For his part, Sharpton was rewarded (like a Skinner Box rat) with hundreds of thousands of dollars and a TV show. His criminal tax evasion charges were also dismissed or put aside for future use against him.

Also, I'm sure you are aware that Sharpton is responsible in large part for lynchers not being punished. Here's why. He, while 'hewing wood and carrying water' for those who never intended to punish lynchers, held fake marches and misled the uniformed by telling them that "new laws" were needed before lynchers could be legally punished and reinforced to change their behavior.

This behavior on CI-7's part not only served to obfuscate and shill for those he works for-- who have no intention of punishing lynchers, but it also serves to embolden lynchers themselves.

Well, I believe 'selective enforcement' was tacitly built into the law from the start, John. But hey, that's just me, I guess.

Watchful

@Johnw11

Greetings, John ... I'm not sure I see it so much as a 'breakdown' of law and order, as much as selective enforcement of law and order where law enforcement is rarely held to the same standards of said laws as we, the general public, r. And I'm also not sure I'd refer to those posing as our so-called 'leaders' as 'imcompetents', but rather straight up 'sellouts' and 'misleaders' of our ppl.

I have since heard that the Cop who did the shooting was Black.

Johnw11
Johnw11

When will there be official congressional hearings about these lynchings? That's the question for me. Two primary foci of the hearings should be (a) why are lynchers not being held accountable for their actions within the context of 'law and order'? (b) what is / was the etiological (causative) relationship between the continuing 1990s policies of "mass Black incarceration' and the lynching mindset?

Johnw11
Johnw11

@TinaSue  I know what you're saying. I've already explained that poor leadership has allowed the "right-wingers" to claim the high ground mantra of "law and order," while at the same time they support lynching in violation of the law. That discrepancy must be intellectually exposed. The first level on which movements operate is ALWAYS psychological.

Terms, phrases, etc., mean whatever their users intend them to mean. When I say "law and order," I mean 'stop the lynchings' --- since lynching is unlawful. For example, when Dr. King appealed to president's of his day for protection against lynchers, that is the basis upon which he made his appeal. The only difference is requests of that day were honored. While present day Blacks have been abandoned to the whims of the lynchers.

Also, I'm not inclined to focus on Trump. It's a waste of time. This is particularly true since his chief rival -- and privately best of friends -- Clinton is no different (if not worse) than him.

Indeed, she has a quantified history of harming Blacks. For every one instance of alleged racism in Trump's history, there are ten in hers.

I will never for Trump or Clinton (with her right-wing endorsements). Unless, Trump means it when he says that if elected he will get 90% of Black votes upon re-election. In order for that to happen, he must plan on addressing the economic issues Blacks need policy help in that he has identified. And, despite the laughter of some that claim of his generated, it would be wise of those supporting the present day right-wing Dems to remember that Blacks began leaving the GOP in the 1930s for economic reasons despite the fact that FDR's Dem party was the official party of the southern racists at that time. Some of the Black misleaders have probably read at least one history book, and therefore are aware of that fact. That's why they viciously attacked Trump for telling the truth about Blacks' true economic plight as a collective.

I'm voting Green Party.

Johnw11

@Watchful Whether the system was designed to provide true justice for Blacks or not, we are in the system and must demand justice.

TinaSue

@Johnw11  I was trying to say in my "disappeared re==ply" that "Law and Order" is the Far Right's aim.  That's just what Trump and his gang wants.  The killings will intensify.

Doubt if there'll be congressional hearings, John ... and even there r, I'm not sure much, if anything, would come of them. This system is not designed to provide true justice for blk ppl. Period. And I'm not talkin' about giving the victims of the police killings a few million dollars in payoff money to pacify us, that's not even close to being true justice.
