There's no need to get emotional when talking about our dire situation because data will back up everything we already feel. Great work.

If you disagree with ANYTHING that Yvette and this gentleman spoke on, just watch an episode of Black-ish. You all hit on SO MANY truths in this video! So many black/brown folks are reacting to Trump's speech emotionally, and have yet to digest what he truthfully spoke. And don't even get me started on how big business and politicians got the game sown up so that its next to impossible to get ahead without some sort of connection. (sighs heavily...)

@Rob Bethea, The solution is the truth. These are processing centers, not banks. It's like a fat out of shape man believing he's a professional basketball player. He's not. He would tell you that the only reason he doesn't look like a professional player is because he's competing against LeBron, just like you're telling me that the only reason these black banks don't look like real banks is because they're competing against white people. So what?! That's the game. You either can compete or you can't. We can't. --yc

So is he saying that black banks, isn't going to give loans to black people either?

U'd have to be pretty damn blind, dumb, and stupid to not believe that the overwhelming majority of blk ppl r poor. Even the town dunce could figure that out without any help.

@Watchful  For the past several years, I've considered Brother Antonio Moore's  high quality work to be tops. It is a pleasure and a fortune to be informed by his outstanding research and articulate presentations. The above video didn't work for me, so I viewed it on youtube. Absolutely awesome. I consider him to be one of the top -- and in many cases the top -- emerging expert(s) on African Americans' economic status.

The brother gets nothing but praise from me for truth telling. His work is a living testament to the fact that lies cannot stand in the face of truth.

Several years ago, when he published the Black economic research report / essay: "The Decadent Veil: Black America's Wealth Illusion," (I believe in the now useless HuffPost), I forwarded dozens of copies to friends and colleagues. The response was always the same --- "This brother is right on point."

@Johnw11

I agree, John ... when it comes to the economic status of blk ppl, Brutha Moore is definitely a truth-teller for sure.

Johnw11
Johnw11

@Watchful If more people would pay attention to not only Moore's excellent work, but many other data information sources, they would be much more informed about the dire, in fact existential, socio-economic conditions of African Americans as a collective; the success of a handful not withstanding.

But like you said in your "showcasing" point made by Mr. Fuller, the few are used to showcase false representative success of the entire group. In this scam, victims are encouraged to be anti-intellectual; be emotional, shun data and facts, and live within fools' paradise.

Such victims, will even themselves hallucinate about how "well-off" Blacks are. Having studied nothing, they will hysterically recite data they neither understand, or care to understand -- which is the only reason why they don't understand -- about how "Trump lied" when he talked about the economic plight of Blacks. If he did lie, it is because his numbers like "58% of Black youth unemployment" are far too low. Far more than 58% of Black youth are unemployed. National Urban League Annual Reports list Black youth unemployment as high as 92% + in many urban Black zones and not far behind in most all others.

A person posted here recently, talking about how well-off Blacks are and how "Trump U Lie."  The problem is that person's, and all others making such "Blacks are well-off"  claims are fundamentally false in their premise: the beliefs they advocate are based in lies

For example, Blacks are making progress in STEMS (they are not, and have been losing ground over the past decade, almost all of those years under the very policies Clinton vows to continue, to the delight of uniformed Blacks: mislead by con artists).

Then I'm told that agents like Sharpton (agent # CI-7) are telling people that Blacks have an 8% unemployment rate, and those they influence argue that ALL Blacks earn over $50,000 annually.

Briefly, as you know, using census data based on Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and Department of Labor (DOL) definitions of working age populations (aged 16 to 64), as of 2012 only 51% of Blacks were even in the labor market to begin with. With 38% not in labor force; 10% unemployed (based on flawed to a joke U3 propaganda numbers), that leaves 48% of working aged Blacks not working = unemployed, with 1% unaccounted for. And these numbers do not count the about 1 million plus Blacks locked-up (despite varying data) which, if included, would drive down even farther the percentage of Blacks of working age who are actually working as it relates to what they call "employment-population ratio."  It would drop below 50%.

In 2013, 40% of working age Black men reported having "zero" income for the year.

Yet if people are not exposed to works of Moore and others, they will never know these things because most are certainly not going to the direct sources themselves. Most won't even go to BlackDemographics.com, where all the data from A to Z about Blacks and their statistical comparison to other groups (based on census, BLS, DOL, etc., data and are laid out) requiring only conceptualization in relation to conclusions and their stated limitations. Therefore, TV and radio hustling misleaders, and those they mislead, will never be able to present a factual argument that can withstand informed scrutiny. That's a fact.

I have to disagree with one point. In the 1980s or the 1920s wealthy black people lived in 8 million dollar Brooklyn mansions and the Cosby show is a reality for many black doctors and lawyers. I know them. Sag Harbor NY, PG county Md, lots of examples.

I have to say you both are on point with several opinions you give on the Black economy and giving voice to those dignified negroes who act like the brothers and sisters in this country are "ai-ight." Those negroes are really disgusting in my opinion, because they don't understand that whiteys really only tolerate them because they share the same opinions. U R right. They not need them. They are allowing them 2 be there. The anchor woman being discussed I am sure is one off-white moment away from losing her paycheck. I firmly agree on the numbers and when I inform people I know that poor people outnumber the rich in this country 2/3--they don't want to hear it. So I shut up. And U R also correct about the mentality of those house negro supported folks who were lucky enough to take advantage of affirmative action back in the day (to include my mom and her friends in government), whose families tended to benefit from nepotism mainly with whiteys hiring Black men (Black women, too) and possibly their family members throughout the years to continue to live on as "hired" help so to speak. But those conditions did not last forever. That time has passed. I am aware of a lot of what you discussed, being a doctoral student, who has been in the poverty class for the last 20 years, resulting from a failed marriage and my maternal family dying off by the time I was 27 years old. For nearly two decades I have been poor and for at least 10 of those years I have studied poverty and oppression. It is worth mentioning that the debt blanket wrapped around Blacks is real, along with my $135,000 worth of education loans I have amassed. So I really appreciate U 2 getting these topics concerning Blackness, inequality and economics right this time. Who ever is disagreeing with this commentary definitely is definitely in denial, have not gone to college recently to education themselves, or, they are not trying to deal with the facts. There is no quick fix, and people need to understand that there is no solution across the board at the moment because we cannot agree on that one point. The majority of Black folks don't want to hear about our problems because they don't want to deal with them methodically. They prefer agreeing with whitey and Blacks who are better off separating themselves from the race. Given some of the conversations here--they prefer complaining about not having solutions, instead of LISTENING, WEIGHING and CONTRIBUTING SOLUTIONS to the problems by telling people who try to educate them, to shut the hell up all of the time.

I just wasted a whole hour watching this.. Thanks Bernard Timberlake II, just more condescending negro's. Let's have a conversation about solutions instead of what's not working. The Black Bank issue.. Duh! We're starting from ZERO, nobody is expecting to all of a sudden be rich from banking black.. But it NEEDS TO happen. We're still losing with Chase, Wells Fargo.. Etc. Because those Trillions of dollars aren't being loaned out or funded back into our communities. That's the main reason why Banking Black came into discussion. He's dead on point with the housing market in Atl. I've been here going on 6 years and I'm seeing black communities depreciate rapidly. And I'm talking new builds, new subdivisions. Homes build between 2000 and now. Selling for 100,000 or a little more are now worth 50,000 or 80,000. Homes in white community are appreciating.. That is very noticeable here.

I got a list I write down.. I'm not near it, in the streets.. But Solutions are similar to how Black Wall Street did it until 1921. 600+ businesses, schools, hospitals, churches, banks, airports.. Etc..And they did it without white people's help. We have to understand that this movement is a continuance of Martin's, Malcolm's, and other civil rights leaders. Except for the focus is on gaining financially. Our leaders of that era and before knew and understood that their sacrifices are going to help the next generation. That's what we have to get.. I'll try to pull up the article I read about the wealth gap between blacks and whites and How many generation's it would take for us to even become WEALTHY. Boyce Watkins and Michael Dyson have a few pieces on this discussion.

Bernard Timberlake II - Preach on, my brother! I often say that looking through my family's generations, we have regressed terribly so.

To tag on Breaking Brown's comment, black banks are still regulated by the FDIC. So there is only a facade of separation from white banking.
