Bernie Sanders was roundly ridiculed by black pundits for not endorsing reparations, so one can hardly imagine what would be the response if he’d joked about being on “CP” time, which is short for colored people’s time, a stereotype about African-Americans always being late.
During New York City’s annual Inner Circle Dinner skit Saturday, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton needled Bill de Blasio for not endorsing her sooner.
“I just have to say thanks for the endorsement, Bill. Took you long enough,” Clinton joked.
“Sorry Hillary, I was running on C.P. time,” de Blasio responded.
When someone in the skit said he didn’t like the line, Clinton offered the punchline, saying “CP” stood for “cautious politician time.”
