After an abrupt departure from MSNBC[1], Melissa Harris-Perry has landed at[2] as editor-at-large.

“Joining is an opportunity to combine my expertise as a scholar, my commitments as a public intellectual, and my interests as a woman,” said Harris-Perry.  “Politics, economics, and inequality will be important to the stories we tell, but so too will culture, community, family, and even fashion. I am thrilled to tell my loyal television audience where they can find me and to introduce myself to brand new audiences, all while telling the stories of extraordinary women and girls.”

Click to tweet site director Leah Chernikoff explained Harris-Perry’s new role.

“She will, as her work has always done, highlight the stories of women and girls — a reader might get to see an interview with a prominent female politician, a Black Lives Matter activist, or a celebrity,” Chernikoff said. “Or they might read Melissa’s writings on topics ranging from feminism, intersectionality, and motherhood, to fashion and even gardening.”

Harris-Perry explained to[3] The View in March that she felt executives at MSNBC were slowly ending her show.

“The show had basically been canceled”, Harris-Perry said, adding, “all of our branding was gone, the thing that said Melissa Harris-Perry was gone, our music was gone, and our editorial content was gone, then I was gone as a host.”

MSNBC denied Harris-Perry’s show was ending and claimed it would’ve continued were it not for Harris-Perry’s behavior.
