A Boston University professor who hasn’t even started her job may lose it after a series of tweets became public.

According to the Boston Herald, Boston University’s spokesman is “offended” at tweets sent by an incoming African-American studies professor.

Even though Saida Grundy doesn’t start her job until July, some are already calling for her head over tweets that call on white people to own up to their responsibility in racism and sexism.

“White masculinity isn’t a problem for america’s colleges, white masculinity is THE problem for america’s colleges,” Grundy tweeted.

In January she wrote,“Every MLK week I commit myself to not spending a dime in white-owned businesses. and every year i find it nearly impossible.”

And prior to that: “Deal with your white sh*t, white people. slavery is a *YALL* thing.”

“While we recognize that Dr. Grundy has the right to hold and express personal opinions, BU does not condone racism or bigotry in any form, and we are offended by such statements,” BU spokesman Colin Riley said in a statement.

Grundy’s view that white people should deal with their “sh*t” and that slavery is a “y’all thing” is viewed by pundit and legal scholar Jonathan Turley as “bizarre and biased”, according to his blog.

With a note of false equivalency, Turley concludes that he sides with free speech, but the next racist white professor must be given latitude if BU keeps Grundy.

This is why Obama is scared of being black, look at what they did to Grundy and multiply by 100, they'd probably impeech him.

I have to say, regardless of how Grundy chose to express herself, that nothing she said is untrue. There are many blacks who are sick with frustration over racism, just as others try to ignore it.

The usual White supremacist claims that any Black person who criticizes sainted Whites for being racist is, themselves, a racist.

The President of Boston University is a Southerner himself. So, he should have a better understanding of racism.

What the Professor said is correct.   However, she needs to learn "tact."   She shouldn't expect to get tenure there, nor be hired by any other White university.  She has sabotaged her career.  Surely, racism makes one angry; but you can't just go popping off at the mouth and expect Whites to give you a paycheck to feed yourself.

When Europeans arrived and invaded what kind of policies were set up? she's right. They have to deal with the State sanctioned policies they put into practice. Why are they running away from these facts?

As African Americans we must stop demanding that others be severely punished for saying things we find offensive unless we are willing to accept the same punishment.

@BigWood1 black people are the only ones looking to "fight fair " in this world while everybody else is taking the gloves off when they deal with us. Most black men think the way you do , thats why the black community is last in almost everything. White men , Asian men ,Arab men etc. are ruthless when it comes to competing and surviving in this world. Black men still have that "im a christian" mentality left over from slavery that gives them a convenient excuse to be cowardly.

@HANNIBAL the VICTOR @BigWood1  You are wrong AGAIN. The problem is Black folks like you wasting time whining like a four year old girl whenever someone says something that ruffle your feathers. You need to grow up for a change and stop being childish.

@BigWood1 i am not concerned about what others think about me. My concern is why so many black people worry about the rights and well being of other groups and could care less about their own people. Private institutions are not bound by the constitution. Only government entities are bound by the constitution. Therefore i dont care if  Boston University decides to punish Dr Gundy or not. Boston U is a private school.

' i am not concerned about what others think about me.' You cannot prove a negative.

'My concern is why so many black people worry about the rights and well being of other groups and could care less about their own people.' Where is the evidence for this? Especially given the fact that Black anti-racism is proof that Blacks do care about their own people.

@BigWood1 Bull crap, we must start building our own institutions so we can treat whites like dirt.

@hernanday1 @BigWood1 The reality is- as long as you, meaning Black people continue to worship the image of your oppressors as Gods your hopes of one day building your own institutions is nothing more than childish fantasy.

@hernanday1 @BigWood1 Although laudable, it is better to keep a distance from Whites - both physically and emotionally - so that one does not end up like them: Bitter, twisted, resentful.

Boston University is a private school , they can and should be able to do what they want in this situation.

This is part of a disturbing trend in Universities to get professors to tow the company line. Good thing we still have SOME people who support the 1st Amendment.
