CNN’s Don Lemon Named Worst of the Worst by Columbia Journalism Review

CNN’s Don Lemon has been the butt of more than a few jokes over the past year. Most recently, Don Lemon shockedhe went out of his way to mention that he smelled marijuana while covering the Ferguson protests.

“Obviously, there is the smell of marijuana in the air,” said Lemon. Now the Columbia Journalism Review has added Lemon to its Worst of the Worst list.

Although other journalists were also criticized, Don Lemon received the dubious “DART” award for his comments, including the one cited above:

On March 20, he asked guests whether Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 could have been swallowed by a black hole: “I know it’s preposterous, but is it preposterous?” He later compared spanking children to training dogs and probed similarities between the release of US Army POW Bowe Bergdahl and the Showtime series Homeland. When an alleged Bill Cosby rape victim appeared on his show on Nov. 18, he lectured, “You know, there are ways not to perform oral sex if you didn’t want to do it…Meaning the use of teeth, right?” Less than a week later, as protests turned violent in Ferguson, MO, he described the scene: “Obviously, there’s a smell of marijuana in the air.” Lemon’s job isn’t easy. But he’s earned a DART for going there. Obviously.

I admire Don's strength in lending a deaf ear to most of the criticism aimed at him, some of which are constructive and he should take note of.  This could be his coping mechanism during difficult times.  That being said,  I had the opportunity to view the tracing of his family roots on both sides recently.  It was emotional for both his mother and himself to travel to Ghana and understand  some of what his African  paternal  fore fathers have been through which included where the slaves were kept and the very harsh conditions they had to endure.  However, what surprised me most is  after returning to the US  and tracing his maternal roots learning that his great grand father was a white plantation/ owner of slaves who was married without children and raped his great grandmother... his remarks shocked me. No sadness was displayed but his comments  with a smile was:  "  It is interesting to know that my great grand father was a white man"..... as opposed to verbalizing what his great grandmother had to helplessly endure by this rapist slave owner who advantaged her thus allowing him and many of the so called "light skinned blacks" to forget that they have raped blood in them and be more sensitive to issues of their race... particularly him in the area of reporting. Seeing the photo of his grandmother it was clear that she was half white.  This rapist eventually committed suicide.  He was wondering why...and I believe--- his barren wife learnt of the child and made his life miserable and he might have been shunned by others.... just my assumption. History tells that they all did that "raped the black woman".

On another note Don's  sexuality is his personal business since everyone of us have a right to be who we are comfortably without judging. Once we all live and let live with mutual respect for each other, then this will be a more peaceful world. I had a discussion with my husband recently on this topic and we both learned that if all the gays and lesbian were to really come out --- we all will be really surprised ---- many are married due to society pressures and are having affairs---- let people be. Live and let live.

I recalled several years ago a representative from Tanzania was interviewed in North America and  asked for foreign aid.  The interviewer then asked him about a neighboring tribal war and his response is one that I will never forget and one which I use often when people are trying to come around me with gossip which I avoid being part of.  He said in his heavy accent: " Like they will say in my country, I am busy bailing out water from canoe because my canoe has holes; the time it will take me to look over at another man's canoe, I will run into a rock".  We should reflect on cleaning out homes first.

Blessed and peaceful 2015!

Jeff Zucker! Send Don Lemon back to Louisiana! Don would fit in well at the weather desk at WBRZ in Baton Rouge! Don Lemon can look for BLACK HOLES and S*CK C*CK there!

What the hell is Breaking Brown? The name reminds me of Black fraternities and sororities, "Brown Bag Test."

Black puppets like Lemon are created by white racist behind the scenes pulling the strings. When Jeff Zucker  took over CNN he created this self hating joke to cash in on bigoted whites who love negros who criticize or in Lemons case bash their own race. There is a cottage industry of blacks who cash in on being professional black critics aimed at this right wing Fox news demographic.

As if we needed Columbia U School of Journalism to confirm what we've known for years now.

For a “g@y guy” he sure gets to hang out with a lot of women. Might like to try his angle myself when trolling for women.
