A Minnesota state lawmaker is under fire after making what some deem as a racist tweet about NBA players.
“Let’s be honest, 70% of teams in NBA could fold tomorrow + nobody would notice a difference w/ possible exception of increase in street crime,” Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, tweeted.
Although some people retweeted the post in support, others retweeted the tweet to call it out as racist. The tweet was retweeted over 700 times.
“No intent beyond that,” he continued.
He also told KARE 11 that he was discussing how NBA players feel that they are above the law.
And Garofalo’s timeline is full of anti-NBA tweets:
FACT: The NFL Pro Bowl sucks almost as bad as the NBA.
NBA Draft? Ask me if I care.
GREAT IDEA – How about a New ESPN channel that covers all sports except the NBA. Joke players.
Joke teams. Joke league.
For those who have difficulty staying away from NBA on TV – I suggest watching paint dry. Much more interesting.
I could care less about the NBA with the possible exception of wanting Miami 2 lose. Seriously I’d rather watch snow melt than watch the NBA
He seems more fixated with the NBA than the issues impacting his constituents.
