As most people already know, Ebony Magazine caters to an African-American audience, not a fringe group of far right Tea Partiers, so when some on the far right began tweeting their disapproval of Ebony‘s Trayvon Martin September cover, it was laugh out loud funny. You know, spit out your corn flakes and milk kind of funny.
There was no mention of an actual boycott by anyone directly associated with the many factions of the Tea Party brand, but the rumor mill quickly set fire, alerting everyone that a Tea Party boycott of Ebony was afoot. That elicited a quick and hilarious response from Ebony:
Although the response was hilarious, The Atlantic Wire wasted an entire article on how the boycott was only a rumor and the Tea Party never had any solid plans to boycott Ebony:
But it does seems Ebony (or more accurately, the people spreading the rumors of the boycott) made a mountain out of a molehill still under construction. Whether or not Head is telling the truth will surely come out soon. There is always a lot of talk online that is nothing more than talk.
Honestly, who really cares? This was an Ebony tweet, not a 3,000 expose’. And didn’t The Atlantic Wire make a “mountain out of molehill” by spending an entire article investigating the sources of the anti-Trayvon Martin tweets.
Point being, there was a lot of criticism from Zimmerman stans over the Trayvon Martin cover, and Ebony shot back — quick. Good for them. Get a life Atlantic Wire.
