Ron Paul and race

I hear a lot of people ratcheting up the rhetoric on Ron Paul and race.  For the most part, I get it. Ron Paul has said a lot of things that lend themselves to criticism. But he’s also said a lot of other things. Let’s have a bit of balance before we go getting all hyperbolic:

So Yvette, I know that the pollsters have a different horse leading the Republican candidates for President just about every week, yet Ron Paul seems to be the candidate not to sleep on in my humble opinion. His position on a number of issues (which I would like to delineate in a subsequent post or reply) have resonated across a broad spectrum of Americans- some of whom seem to have divergent interests.

But having played the tape (i.e, the clip you posted above) I wondered what are some of the salient thoughts, opinions, and/or conclusions that you have about the Ron Paul’s candidacy, character, and/or policy positions? Do you think his position on disparate incarceration of Blacks and Whites is sufficient to attract a significant number of black voters?

I think I outlined most of my thoughts in today’s post. Check it out if you get a chance. But I do think Paul has enough policy initiatives that black people care about to be a real player, which may have a bit to do with why he’s coming under fire on the issue of race.

Hi Yvette, I must apologize for my own oversight; I didn’t see, nor read, the posted article. Thus, I was remiss in my subsequent reply. Please accept my sincere apology. I shall follow-up with you. Thanks.

No need to apologize. I posted the article after you’d already posted your comment.
